Project features
The project
Based in Scotland, Green Space Dunbar design and build eco-conscious garden rooms for work, rest and everything in between. This particular build marked a milestone, the team’s largest project to date. The goal? To create a warm, energy-efficient outdoor space using sustainable materials that align with both their ethos and the client’s expectations.
From the outset, environmental performance was a key driver, so the team were keen to choose an insulation material that not only delivered on thermal efficiency but also reflected their values.
Goals
- Create a comfortable, year-round garden room
- Use low-impact, sustainable materials
- Deliver a quick and clean installation process
- Align with Green Space Dunbar’s eco-conscious approach
Why Sisalwool?
Green Space Dunbar had previously worked with PIR insulation but were keen to move toward a more natural solution. Sisalwool stood out for its strong environmental credentials and ease of installation.
Made from natural fibres, Sisalwool is breathable, non-toxic and simple to work with, especially on busy build sites where time and cleanliness matter. The client was fully on board with the switch to sustainable materials and appreciated the team’s commitment to greener design choices.
Benefits
- Clean, fast and straightforward to install
- Natural and breathable. No harsh chemicals or off-gassing
- Excellent thermal properties for year-round comfort
- Ideal for eco-conscious builds and clients
Installation
Sisalwool 100 was fully filled into 4x2 timber studs in both the walls and roof to deliver a high-performing thermal envelope. The space will be finished internally with marine ply for a clean, durable finish.
The result is a garden room that feels as good as it looks. Smart, sustainable, and ready for use no matter the weather.
“[Sisalwool] is much easier, cleaner and faster to work with than competing products we have worked with.”
