Sisalwool is delighted to be supporting Craig and Aimee, the creators behind Kinging-It, as they restore their characterful old granite cottage in northern Scotland.

Known for sharing the real ups and downs of life, travel and ambitious projects with their loyal audience, Kinging-It is now documenting the renovation of their Scottish home, with a clear focus on making it warmer, healthier and fit for the future while respecting the fabric of the original building.
In their latest episode, Craig and Aimee (pictured above) explain why they chose Sisalwool for the project.
With the cottage’s traditional granite walls and lime-based building materials, they wanted an insulation solution that would help maintain a breathable construction rather than risk trapping moisture within the walls.......
Sisalwool’s flexible, natural-fibre insulation is designed to work sympathetically with traditional and solid-wall buildings. Its vapour-permeable properties help manage moisture by absorbing and releasing it as conditions change, supporting a dry and comfortable internal environment. As Aimee puts it in the episode: “Intelligent insulation.”
The pair also highlight Sisalwool’s environmental credentials, including its mix of natural and recycled fibres and the use of recycled coffee bags within the product. Their choice reflects a growing interest among renovators in materials that combine thermal comfort, moisture management and a more responsible approach to construction.
Nic McCormick, CEO of Sisalwool, said: “We’re thrilled that Craig and Aimee have chosen Sisalwool for the restoration of their beautiful cottage. Renovating an older building brings its own challenges, particularly when it comes to balancing warmth, ventilation and moisture management.
“Their approach, using breathable and compatible materials, is exactly the kind of considered renovation we want to encourage. Sisalwool helps homeowners improve comfort and energy efficiency without compromising how a traditional building needs to perform.
“Kinging-It have built an incredibly authentic and engaged community by sharing the reality of their adventures and projects, and we’re delighted to be part of this next chapter. We wish Craig and Aimee every success as they transform the cottage into a warm, healthy and much-loved home.”
Sisalwool features in Kinging-It’s latest episode, We’ve had the BIGGEST week at the cottage (Ep.8), where the team insulates the cottage’s newly formed bedroom walls before applying lime-based finishes.
The episode follows the wider renovation journey of the 200-year-old granite cottage, which Craig and Aimee are carefully bringing back to life....

Kinging-It is the travel and adventure platform created by real life couple Craig and Aimee, who are known for documenting their journeys honestly; including the challenges as well as the highlights. Their cottage series brings that same open, practical spirit to the realities of restoring an old home in Scotland.
